One thing we love the most about Vienna is the diversity of its people and its welcoming culture. Our goal is to reflect that positivity in our event.

We want to make sure webclerks community conference is a safe, enjoyable environment for everybody. All attendees, speakers, sponsors and volunteers at the conference are required to agree to the following code of conduct. Organizers will enforce this code throughout the event. We expect cooperation from all participants.

If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a member of conference staff immediately. You can either talk to us in person, write a direct message to Manuel, Claudia, our Twitter Account, email us personally or make an anonymous report.

For the day event, you will also have access to a mobile number that you can call or send SMS messages. (Please note: this page will be updated closer to the time with additional details).

Conference staff will be happy to help participants contact hotel/venue security or local law enforcement, provide escorts, or otherwise assist those experiencing harassment to feel safe for the duration of the conference. We value your attendance.

A harassment-free conference

Webclerks is dedicated to providing a harassment-free conference experience for everyone. Harassment includes, but is not limited to:

  • Offensive comments related to gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, mental illness, neuro(a)typicality, physical appearance, body size, age, race, or religion.
  • Unwelcome comments regarding a person’s lifestyle choices and practices, including those related to food, health, parenting, drugs, and employment.
  • Deliberate misgendering or use of “dead” or rejected names.
  • Gratuitous or off-topic sexual images or behaviour in spaces where they’re not appropriate.
  • Physical contact and simulated physical contact (eg, textual descriptions like “hug” or “backrub”) without consent or after a request to stop.
  • Threats of violence.
  • Incitement of violence towards any individual, including encouraging a person to commit suicide or to engage in self-harm.
  • Deliberate intimidation.
  • Stalking or following.
  • Harassing photography or recording, including logging online activity for harassment purposes.
  • Sustained disruption of discussion.
  • Unwelcome sexual attention.
  • Pattern of inappropriate social contact, such as requesting/assuming inappropriate levels of intimacy with others.
  • Continued one-on-one communication after requests to cease.
  • Deliberate “outing” of any aspect of a person’s identity without their consent except as necessary to protect vulnerable people from intentional abuse.
  • Publication of non-harassing private communication.

No weapons of any kind, or drugs are allowed.


We do not tolerate harassment of conference participants in any form. Sexual language and imagery is not appropriate for any conference venue, including talks, workshops, parties, Twitter and other online media. Conference participants violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from the conference without a refund at the discretion of the conference organizers. Any misbehaviour online will be reported accordingly.

Sponsors are also subject to the anti-harassment policy. In particular, sponsors should not use sexualized images, activities, or other material. If sponsors violate this code, their sponsorship for the webclerks community conference will be cancelled without any refund.
Booth staff (including volunteers) should not use sexualized clothing like “sexy uniforms or costumes”, or otherwise create a sexualized environment.

We expect everyone to follow these rules at conference and conference-related social events. People asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately.

Photo Policy

Our photographer Martin will be at the event and at the after show party to take photos. Those will be published on the conferences’ websites and social media channels.

Participants can indicate their consent with appearing in pictures published by the conference by picking either a red or a black lanyard at the registration. Black means that the particpant is fine with appearing in published photos. Red means that they don’t want to appear in photos.

The photographer will try to avoid taking pictures of people with red lanyards. Please note that this won’t be possible all the time but before we publish our pictures, we’ll remove all pictures containing people wearing red lanyards.
